RSPH Level 2 Food Safety

 

The Level 2 Food Safety certificate is aimed at all food handlers in the catering and hospitality sectors. Those typically requiring the certificate would be involved with:

  • Residential Care Homes, Hospitals
  • Retail Outlets and Fast Food Snack bars
  • Hotels, Pubs, Restaurants and Hospitality Catering
  • Schools and Play Groups providing catering
  • Prisons

Course Outcomes

  • Provide an understanding of the principles of food safety. Demonstrates how to apply this knowledge to control hazards and prevent food poisoning

 

Course Details

  • The course is of 6 / 8 hours duration which is followed by a thirty question multi choice examination paper.
  • The examination duration is 45 minutes
  • Candidates must achieve twenty correct answers to be awarded the certificate.
    • A pass will be awarded for 20 to 25 correct answers
    • A credit will be awarded for 26 to 30 correct answers
  • Special circumstances
    • Candidates who may encounter difficulties in meeting the normal examination criteria may apply for special arrangements, for example an oral examination. The requirement for such special arrangements must be mentioned at the time of application
  • It is strongly recommended that applicants refresh this certificate every 3 years

Course Fees

  • The individual course fee for RSPH Level 2 Food Safety Certificate is £44. The cost includes an £11 examination and certificate fee which is payable to Royal Society of Public Health, also included is the Level 2 handbook which compliments the course. Special group rates are available, please call for details

Course Location

  • Although based in the South West courses can be arranged in most areas of the country either “in house” at clients premises or at a local “off site” venue dependent on numbers.

 

Progression

  • Progression would normally be to the RSPH Level 3 Food Safety Certificate. Level 3 certification relates to management or supervisory staff having a responsbility for food handlers
